This famous segment of Tchaikovsky’s suite is so Russian in character that, despite its brevity, it conjures up strong images of dancing Cossacks in their fur hats and shiny boots. Similar to Lloyd’s arrangement of Dance of the Reed Pipes, instrumentation consists of 3 Bb Clarinets (2 on each part), Alto Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Contra- Alto Clarinet, and optional percussion (Tambourine).
