Solo or Unison Voices, SATB & Piano
Can You Hear Me? is an anthem for kindness. Originally written in lockdown during the 2020 Coronavirus pandemic, the song offers comfort and strength in difficult times. Emotive and soft yet intense and heartfelt music accompanies beautiful words by poet Matt Harvey which touch upon themes of loneliness, longing and hope of better times to follow.
Though originally scored for choir, soloist and orchestra, Can You Hear Me? was created for the enjoyment of singers and instrumentalists of all abilities worldwide, and this version for SATB and piano, with a flexible solo group, complements the version for voice and piano available separately from the publishers as a digital download (F025) or printed copy (Y359).
Can You Hear Me? was originally recorded and released by Laura Wright & The Choir of Royal Holloway, University of London with their conductor Rupert Gough, and produced by the composer from recordings made at home by each of the performers.
The original recording of Can You Hear Me? (Signum SIGCD817) is available on all good streaming networks, and the music video can be found on YouTube.
Proceeds from the single will be donated to a number of UK-based mental health charities.
