The symphonic poem "Danse Macabre" by the French composer Camille Saint-Saëns was written in 1872 at the Hotel Fuentes in Tangier, Morocco, originally for piano and voice. Two years later the composer rewrote the piece for orchestra and replaced the voice with a solo violin. After the composer himself created further arrangements for different compositions, other composers such as Ernest Guiraud or Franz Liszt also worked on the piece and created their own arrangements.
The arrangement of the Dutch Ebonit Saxophone Quartet is not only extremely artistic, but also sounds as full and varied as the original by the French composer - perfect!
